TheyaVue Ingredients List: All 24 Ingredients, Line by Line

Quick answerThe TheyaVue ingredients list names 24 ingredients. Fourteen vitamins and minerals carry an amount, from vitamin C at 100 mg a capsule to chromium at 1.8 mcg. Ten more, led by lutein, bilberry and alpha lipoic acid, share one 240.5 mg blend line with no separate amounts. The capsule shell is vegetable cellulose, and the panel is per capsule while the directions are two a day.

Key facts
  • 24 named ingredients: 14 with an amount and percent daily value, 10 sharing one 240.5 mg blend.
  • The blend lists, in descending order by weight: lutein, bilberry, alpha lipoic acid, eyebright, zeaxanthin, quercetin, rutin, L-taurine, grape seed and lycopene.
  • Other ingredients: cellulose (vegetable capsule), rice flour, magnesium stearate and silicon dioxide.
  • The panel is per one capsule and the directions are two a day, so double the daily figures.
  • No individual amount is published for any of the ten blend names.
  • TheyaVue is not an AREDS2 formula and has not been tested as a formula.

How many ingredients does TheyaVue have?

Twenty-four are named on the label, and the number matches the seller's own talk of 24 antioxidants. The way they are listed matters more than the count. Fourteen sit in the main panel, each with its own amount. Ten share a single line.

The seller's TheyaVue graphic naming six ingredients: lutein, zeaxanthin, bilberry extract, eyebright, alpha lipoic acid and vitamin A as beta carotene, beside the bottle
The seller's own graphic names six headline ingredients. The label names all 24.

The graphic names six. The panel names 24. If you compare bottles, trust the panel and not the graphic.

What is on the Supplement Facts panel?

The photo below is the panel as printed on the bottle. The serving size is one capsule and there are 60 servings in the container. Both of those lines decide how to read everything beneath them.

The table copies it in full and adds a daily column. The first three columns are the label's. The fourth is the same figure doubled because the directions are two capsules a day. That column does not appear on the pack.

What is in the 240.5 mg proprietary blend?

A blend is a way of declaring a mixture. The total must be stated and the parts listed in order of weight. TheyaVue does both. Here is the order:

  1. Lutein
  2. Bilberry extract (Vaccinium myrtillus, fruit)
  3. Alpha lipoic acid (ALA)
  4. Eyebright (Euphrasia officinalis, herb)
  5. Zeaxanthin
  6. Quercetin (Sophora japonica, bud)
  7. Rutin (Sophora japonica L., flower)
  8. L-taurine
  9. Grape seed extract (Vitis vinifera L., seed)
  10. Lycopene

The list runs from heaviest to lightest, so lutein leads the ten and lycopene closes it. Nothing else about the split is published. We do not estimate it. If a page says this bottle holds 10 mg of lutein, that figure is not on the label.

Our blend article does the ceiling arithmetic in detail.

What do the trials say about each group?

Think of the 24 names as four groups with very different evidence behind them.

Carotenoids: lutein, zeaxanthin and lycopene

Lutein and zeaxanthin have the best case. The The AREDS2 trial gave 10 mg of lutein and 2 mg of zeaxanthin a day for five years to people who already had intermediate macular degeneration. In healthy adults, trials looked at contrast, glare recovery and how quickly a scene is processed. Lycopene is not deposited in the macula in any quantity, and the evidence is blood-based.

Plant extracts: bilberry, eyebright, grape seed, quercetin and rutin

A twelve-week bilberry trial gave 240 mg a day to 109 adults and looked at eye focusing muscle tone. The old night-vision idea did not survive testing, according to the systematic review. Eyebright's one modern trial used eye drops in preterm babies and missed its main goal. Grape seed had a 12-month trial at 150 mg a day in people with a diabetic eye condition. Quercetin and rutin rest on laboratory and absorption work.

Antioxidant helpers: alpha lipoic acid and L-taurine

In the biggest eye trial of alpha lipoic acid, 467 people took 600 mg daily for two years, and the main result was negative. Taurine is common in the retina, and that is why it appears on eye formulas. No trial shows that adding it helps a well-fed adult.

Vitamins and minerals

Vitamin C, vitamin E, zinc and copper are the antioxidant core of the AREDS formula, but at lower amounts here. Two capsules give 200 mg, 20 mg, 32 mg and 2 mg against the AREDS figures of 500 mg, 400 IU, 80 mg and 2 mg. The B vitamins, biotin, calcium, magnesium, selenium and chromium are general nutrition and not eye-specific action.

What else is in each capsule?

The other-ingredients line is short: cellulose (vegetable capsule), rice flour, magnesium stearate and silicon dioxide.

  • Cellulose is the shell. It makes the vegetarian mark checkable, because gelatin would contradict it.
  • Rice flour fills the rest of the capsule. It is also why the gluten-free mark holds up.
  • Magnesium stearate is a flow agent that stops powder sticking to the filling machine.
  • Silicon dioxide is an anti-caking agent doing a similar job.

A shell, a filler and two flow agents is a plain list. It has no artificial colours. The pack also carries a mark that says all natural. That phrase is unregulated and carries no information, so we do not lean on it. When people search for the natural ingredients in TheyaVue, the honest answer is a mix of plant extracts, plant-derived compounds and added vitamins and minerals.

What does the ingredients list not tell you?

Three gaps, stated once

The blend split. Ten names share 240.5 mg and the split is not published.

The lutein form. Lutein can be sold as free lutein or as esters, and the panel says neither.

Plant standardisation. Trials use extracts standardised to a stated active percentage. The panel names the plant part and the Latin name, but gives no standardisation figure.

None of the three is unusual in this category. All three are worth knowing before you compare this bottle with another. Our ingredient page goes through all 24 names one at a time, and our label page has the transcription.

Frequently asked questions

What are the ingredients in TheyaVue?

Twenty-four are named. Fourteen vitamins and minerals carry amounts. Ten more share a 240.5 mg proprietary blend: lutein, bilberry, alpha lipoic acid, eyebright, zeaxanthin, quercetin, rutin, L-taurine, grape seed extract and lycopene.

How much lutein is in TheyaVue?

Not published. Lutein sits inside the 240.5 mg blend with no figure of its own. It heads the list, which makes it the heaviest of the ten.

Does TheyaVue contain beta carotene?

Yes, as the vitamin A source, at 50 mcg RAE a capsule and 100 mcg RAE a day.

Is TheyaVue vegetarian and gluten free?

The capsule shell is vegetable cellulose and the other ingredients are rice flour, magnesium stearate and silicon dioxide, which supports both marks.

Is TheyaVue an AREDS2 formula?

No. The AREDS2 formula had six ingredients with amounts printed, and it was tested in people who had macular degeneration. TheyaVue lists 24 names and inherits none of its findings.

Why does the daily value look so high?

The panel is per capsule and the directions are two a day. Biotin reads 1,333% for one capsule, which is double that for a day.

Our view

What is in TheyaVue? A broad list, honestly printed in two halves. The 14 on the panel are easy to read and compare. The ten in the blend are the ones the advertising leads with, and their amounts are the part you cannot check.

If you value a short, exact label, a single-carotenoid capsule is a fair alternative. If you like breadth and a printed panel, TheyaVue gives you that. Either way, count the daily figures twice and add up your zinc.

As the seller we have a stake in your choice. We would rather print the gap than guess at it.
