Is TheyaVue Safe? Four Numbers to Know and Who Should Skip It

Quick answerFor healthy adults following the label, nothing on it looks alarming, but four daily figures deserve a look: zinc 32 mg, copper 2 mg, biotin 800 mcg and beta carotene at 100 mcg RAE. Extra zinc from other bottles is the main trap. It is for adults 18 and over, not for pregnancy or nursing.

Key facts
  • The label is for healthy adults aged 18 and over. It is not for anyone pregnant or nursing.
  • Two capsules a day give zinc 32 mg against a tolerable upper intake level of 40 mg from all sources.
  • Copper is 2 mg a day, the amount AREDS paired with its zinc.
  • Biotin is 800 mcg a day and can interfere with some lab tests, including troponin and thyroid tests.
  • Alpha lipoic acid can lower blood glucose, and its amount is hidden inside the blend.
  • Sight that has changed is a reason to book an eye exam, not to start a supplement.

Who is TheyaVue made for, and who is it not for?

Imagine a reader with a multivitamin in the kitchen, a zinc lozenge in the bag and a new eye capsule on the way. Each product looks harmless alone. The risk is in the sum. That is why we start with who the label is for.

The label restricts itself to healthy adults aged 18 and over. We do not widen that. The trials behind the ingredients also enrolled adults. TheyaVue is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.

Who should not take it

  • Anyone under 18.
  • Anyone pregnant or nursing. Vitamin A in any form is a question for a clinician who knows your whole picture.
  • Anyone already taking an AREDS-type eye formula, unless the zinc has been added up.
  • Anyone taking a prescribed zinc supplement for a diagnosed shortfall, for the same reason.
  • Anyone whose sight has changed in recent months, until an eye exam has been done.

Everything below is general information. It is not medical advice, and your own doctor or optometrist knows details that a web page cannot.

Is 32 mg of zinc a day too much?

The panel says 16 mg of zinc per capsule. The directions say two capsules a day. So a person taking it as directed gets 32 mg. The Institute of Medicine sets a tolerable upper intake level for adults of 40 mg a day from all sources (its zinc chapter).

That leaves 8 mg of headroom. A typical multivitamin carries 11 to 15 mg. An immune-support lozenge carries 10 to 25 mg. An AREDS-type eye formula carries 25 or 80 mg. Any one of these on top of TheyaVue crosses the level. Nobody adds up labels, so the crossing is easy to miss.

The effect of long excess is slow. Zinc and copper compete for the same transport in the gut, so a long run of too much zinc can drain copper. A published case report describes anaemia from zinc supplements. It involved far more zinc than this, for far longer. We cite it for the mechanism, not for the size.

The reassuring half

This label pairs its zinc with copper at 1 mg a capsule, so 2 mg a day. That is the amount the AREDS report 8 used beside its zinc. Many eye formulas name zinc and no copper at all, and this one does not have that problem.

Why does the biotin matter for a blood test?

Biotin is 400 mcg a capsule, so 800 mcg a day. On the bottle it reads 1,333% of the daily value for one capsule. That sounds huge. Biotin is water soluble, no upper intake level is set for it, and at this level it does nothing harmful to a person.

It can do something to a laboratory. Many immunoassays use a biotin bond in the test itself, and biotin in your blood can compete with it. Work on biotin and immunoassays found that some older troponin and thyroid-stimulating hormone tests were affected. Depending on the test, a result can read falsely high or falsely low.

The fix is one sentence. Tell the clinic you take a supplement with biotin before a blood draw. Troponin and thyroid tests are the two where a wrong number matters most.

Does the beta carotene matter if you smoke?

Vitamin A on this label is beta carotene, at 50 mcg RAE a capsule and 100 mcg RAE a day. It has a specific history. The The CARET trial gave 30 mg of beta carotene with retinol to smokers and asbestos workers and stopped early because of more lung cancer. The The ATBC trial gave 20 mg a day to 29,133 male smokers and pointed the same way.

Set the numbers side by side. Those trials used 20 and 30 mg a day. This label gives 100 mcg RAE a day. It is a small fraction of those doses, so it is not the same exposure. We still print it. The Institute of Medicine chapter on beta carotene advises against supplemental beta carotene for the general population, and a person who takes several supplements can add it up without noticing.

If you smoke, or used to, know which form of vitamin A each bottle in your cupboard uses. MedlinePlus on vitamin A is a readable place to start.

What are all four numbers at a glance?

ItemPer capsulePer day, two capsulesWhy it matters
Zinc (as zinc oxide)16 mg32 mgUpper level for adults is 40 mg from all sources
Copper (as copper gluconate)1 mg2 mgMatches the amount AREDS paired with its zinc
Biotin400 mcg800 mcgCan distort some lab tests
Vitamin A (as beta carotene)50 mcg RAE100 mcg RAEWorth knowing if you smoke or used to

The first two columns after the name are the label's own. The daily column is the panel figure doubled, and it does not appear on the pack.

The rest of the panel is calmer. Vitamin C is 200 mg a day and vitamin E is 20 mg a day. Selenium is 8 mcg a day. The B vitamins are 8 to 40 mg a day. Calcium, magnesium and chromium are 50 mg, 40 mg and 3.6 mcg a day. None of them looks like a concern at those levels.

What about alpha lipoic acid and blood sugar?

Alpha lipoic acid sits inside the 240.5 mg blend, so its amount is not published. It can lower blood glucose. A 2025 review records that effect alongside everything else the ingredient has been tried for.

If you take a medicine that already lowers blood sugar, tell your doctor that this ingredient is in the capsule. You cannot be told how much, because the label does not say. That is the honest reason to ask first.

Can you take TheyaVue every day?

The directions are daily: one veggie capsule twice a day, 20 to 30 minutes before a meal, with an 8 oz glass of water. A bottle of 60 capsules lasts 30 days.

What is not published is any long-term safety study of this exact product. The trials of single ingredients ran for months to years at their own amounts. Those results do not carry over to the finished capsule.

If something feels wrong, stop and ring the order desk on +1 (315) 724-2018. A refund inside 60 days does not need a reason, and your doctor should hear about any symptom that worries you. The seller's page says it has never had a report of a side effect. We do not repeat that claim, because it cannot be checked, and it should never make you stay quiet.

Frequently asked questions

Is TheyaVue safe?

For healthy adults 18 and over following the label, nothing on it looks alarming. Four daily figures need care: zinc 32 mg, copper 2 mg, biotin 800 mcg and beta carotene at 100 mcg RAE. No long-term safety study of the finished product is published.

What are the side effects of TheyaVue?

The seller's page says it has had no reports, and we do not repeat that. Too much zinc from other bottles is the main risk to plan for. Stop and call a doctor if anything feels wrong.

Can I take TheyaVue with my multivitamin?

Add up the zinc first. Two capsules carry 32 mg a day and a typical multivitamin carries 11 to 15 mg, so the sum can pass the 40 mg upper level.

Will TheyaVue affect a blood test?

It might. Two capsules carry 800 mcg of biotin, which can distort some troponin and thyroid tests. Tell the clinic that you take it.

Can I take TheyaVue if I am pregnant or nursing?

The label is for healthy adults 18 and over and does not cover pregnancy or nursing. Ask a clinician who knows your history.

Is TheyaVue FDA approved?

No. The label states that its claims have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration, and no supplement is FDA approved.

Our view

Is TheyaVue safe? For a healthy adult who reads the label and counts the zinc, it looks reasonable. For a person on several supplements, on medicine for blood sugar, pregnant, nursing or under 18, the honest answer is to ask a clinician first.

We like that the label pairs zinc with copper and that the beta carotene is small. We do not like that the alpha lipoic acid amount is hidden, and we cannot point to a long-term study of this exact capsule.

Our income comes from sales, which is worth remembering as you read. Start by adding up the zinc in your cupboard, and see an eye doctor first if your sight has changed.

What this is and is not

TheyaVue is a dietary supplement. It is not a drug and it is not FDA approved, and no supplement is. Nothing on this page treats, cures or prevents any disease, and nothing here replaces an eye examination or advice from your own doctor. Ask a doctor about any medical question, and book an eye examination if your sight has changed.
